The actor collaborates with YRF for a historical biopic on Prithviraj Chauhan
Akshay Kumar is continuing to capitalise on the nationalism wave associated with his recent spate of films. His next project with Yash Raj Films happens to be one of the biggest period films ever produced by Bollywood titled Prithviraj. The film is based on the life and heroism of the fearless kind Prithviraj Chauhan, where Akshay Kumar essays the title role. For the uninitiated, Prithviraj’s daredevilry against Muhammad of Ghor made him a legendary ruler and fighter for free India.
Incidentally the first-ever historical of YRF, the makers had announced their ambitious production on the 52nd birthday of the superstar. Talking about the film, Akshay says, “It is truly an honour that I will be playing the role of one of the most fearless and courageous kings of India, Prithviraj Chauhan. As a nation, we should always celebrate our heroes and immortalize what they did to propagate the values that Indians lived by. Prithviraj is our attempt to bring to light his valour and daredevilry. So this announcement coming on my birthday has indeed made it more special for me.”
Prithviraj is being directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi who has directed the television epic Chanakya – based on the life and times of the most influential political strategist of India and the multiple award-winning Pinjar. Prithviraj will release worldwide for Diwali 2020.
