Bangladesh TV starts broadcasting in India

State-owned TV channel Bangladesh Television (BTV) on Monday launched a telecast for viewers in India on DD Free Dish.

Bangladesh Information Minister, Dr. Hasan Mehmood inaugurated the broadcast program at the BTV Auditorium in Dhaka. Minister of State for Information Murad Hasan and India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Rewa Ganguly Das were special guests at the ceremony.

On this occasion, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Rewa Ganguly Das said that it was a historic occasion through the continuous efforts of both governments.

Reminding them of the shared history of the two countries, he said that this would set the stage for learning from each other’s experiences and promoting better understanding between the two countries. He appreciated All India Radio’s role of All India Radio in this context.

BTV programs in India will be broadcast using Bangabandhu 1, the country’s first communication satellite. Initially, viewers will be able to watch BTV World Service programs in India.

India and Bangladesh signed an agreement in May 2019 to make BTV and DD available in both countries.
