Being “Crazy Bangali” Is “Durga Puja”: BIH takes over 120 members on ‘Puja Parikrama’ tour

Durga Puja is the time when Bong goes crazy. This is more of an emotion than a festival. One may compare it with the Carnival of Brazil. Every Bengali is best witnessed in its most scintillating avatar during the 5 days of Durga Puja. Aww, ask any Bengali in any part of the world, there is nothing else on the planet that can beat the essence of these 5 days.

And to deep dive into the magical feeling of Durga Puja, BIH – Bengalis In Hyderabad has arranged a Puja Parikrama for all the Bengali who live in the city of Nizam on Saturday. On Saptami, 3 AC- buses with 120 participants started in the Puja Parikrama at 7:00 am.

Hyderabad Puja Parikrama 2019, which is initiated by BIH, had been organising the trip from 7 years. According to the General Secretary of BIH, Mr.Partha Pratim Mallik, Almost 35 -40 big Puja Pandals are there in and around Hyderabad and Secundrabad.

Mr.Mallik, General Secretary of BIH said that in Hyderabad Sharad Samman 2019, all the participants were taken to all renowned Durga Pujas across the city. He further informed that the puja pandals to be visited by the Puja Parikrama participants of Bengalis in Hyderabad, would also be the jury for selecting the Best Puja and other awards from amongst the pandals visited.

Under the leadership of Manjul Saha, who led the activities so far very perfectly along with Mithun Ranjit and Samarjit Sarkar Roy Mahajan , BIH members were provided with a smooth and hassle-free trip. They accompanied participants on the bus and made it ensure that every arrangement had been taken place Perfectly.

“When you have a passion for something I guess that’s enough to put on an event. Then to see people sign up for that event, having a great time and want more….is an incredible feeling. I love organizing events for Bengalis in Hyderabad because with every event you create experiences that people will remember for long. It is a chance to steal a little piece of someone’s heart “, said Samarjit Sarkar Roy Mahajan, who’s everyone’s one point of contact during the tour from getting into the bus to clicking photographs.

It’s a whole day program and the Bus first stopped at Utsab Cultural Association, Madhapur where Bengali delicacies breakfast ( luchi & alur dom with Misthi) had been served. With the rhythm of dhaks the bus continued its journey towards Cyberabad Bengali Association, Miyapur. Nabarun Sangha, Balanagar, Bangiya Shiksha Niketan, Balanagar, Vedanga Sanmilani, Dairy Farm Road, Sec’bad, Hyderabad Kalibari, Sainikpuri, Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha, Sec’bad, Krishti Goshthi, DRDO, Kanchenbag, Attapur Bengali Association, Attapur, Oikotan Hyderabad, Manikonda-Khajaguda are routed the puja parikrama covered.

It’s no secret that Bengalis are foodies. While other people celebrate Navratri by fasting every day, Bengalis have the time of their lives on eating, eating and eating.Perhaps one of the best thing about Durga Puja is the ‘bhog’ that is being served in Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha, Sec’bad during the tour.

During the puja parikrama, BIH was also promoted and distributed literature and social causes through its bilingual pujabarshiki Kolaj, and its philanthropic wing Sporsho. This magazine is 11 years old and offers a platform for the Hyderabadis to publish their articles, poetry etc written in Bengali & English.

Whereas Sporsho is adopting NGOs in Hyderabad-Secunderabad and raising funds for the underprivileged children for the last one decade, targeting to improve the nutrition and education of the children.

After the feeling the pulse of the celebration of Durga Puja, all participants were taken back to the starting point, from where they went back to their homes.
