Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over a high level meeting on Saturday to review the status of the current flood in different parts of the country. He also reviewed preparations for states, central ministries and agencies to deal with the situation.
Shah instructed senior officials to take all possible measures to deal with the situation and provide all necessary assistance to flood affected states.
After the meeting, MoS Home Affairs Officer Nityanand Rai said that the flood situation is not serious. It was a meeting for NDRF, IMD and other management to alert the people on their toes for any requirement from the states.
The Directorate of National Disaster Response Force, NDRF has said that 73 NDRF teams are already deployed in sensitive areas of flood affected states with all necessary equipment.
The Home Ministry said, NDRF teams have saved nearly 750 people in Assam and Bihar.
