A 14-member high-level committee for the implementation of clause 6 of the Assam Accord is going to hear the opinions of newspaper editors, organizations, parties, individuals and others from Saturday.
According to the top-level sources in the high-level committee, out of 1,050 memorandums received by the committee, about 500 are out of sync with the things sought by the committee. And most of such sink memorandums are derived from Barak Valley, mainly from Cachar. Issues such as joining the NRC, issuing Aadhaar cards, erasing the dubious tag of voters, issuing land documents etc. which were not sought by the committee have been raised.
According to sources, while 639 memorandums were received by hand, around 400 were received via email, and some by postal or courier services. On Saturday, the high-level committee is going to seek opinion from newspaper editors in Guwahati. It will hear opinions at the feet of literary bodies, political parties, non-political organizations, students and youth organizations, Assamese celebrities and others. Apart from Guwahati, hearing will also be held in four other areas in the state – Kokrajhar, Silchar, Dibrugarh and Tezpur.
