Double jihadist attack after mourning in Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso was mourning on Tuesday after 35 civilians were killed by jihadists in a double attack in the north in one of the deadliest attacks in nearly five years of violence in the West African country.

Seven soldiers and 80 jihadists were attacked simultaneously at military bases in Arbinda city and Saum province on Tuesday.

The President has declared 48 hours of national mourning. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but jihadist violence in Burkina Faso has been blamed on terrorists belonging to both al-Qaeda and Islamic State groups.
