Floods in Assam: Dhubri prison has been submerged, Brahmaputra trend rising

Assam is facing the devasting flood. 31 Out of 33 affected districts. Dhubri District Officers have shiefted 409 prisoners of the district jail after submerging the barracks of prisoners in the flood waters late on Monday night.

Dhubri is one of the 30 districts of Assam affected by the second wave of flood this year.

All the prisoners have now been shifted to the Dhubri Girls College building located near the jail.Inmates of the transferred prison include 400 men and 9 women.

Mr.Vishnu Deo Roy, Superintending Engineer, Hydrological Observation Circle, CWC, Guwahati told to Riaan Tv -Bureau that till tomorrow evening (17-07-2019) water level will rise. Thereafter, it will start falling, he added.

Meanwhile, the road connectivity of the district headquarters city has also been cut due to flood due to the continuous increase in the water level of the powerful river Brahmaputra and its tributaries across the Dhubri city and the district.

The power supply of Dhubri city has been closed from Monday evening and the whole city is passing through the entire darkness.
