Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken stern action in the Hathras case, suspending five police personnel, including the district superintendent of police (SP).
The action was taken after receiving a preliminary report in the case from the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT investigating the case has decided to conduct narco and polygraph examination of the persons involved in the case.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath suspended Hathras SP Vikrant Veer for negligence and poor supervision in the case. The government has also suspended Circle Officer Ram Shab, Inspector Dinesh Meena, Sub-Inspector Jagveer Singh and Head Constable Mahesh Paul, who are investigating the gang-rape and death of a 19-year-old girl in the village. SP Hatras handed over the responsibilities to Shamli District SP Vineet Jaiswal.
