India’s 70th Constitution Day celebrated in Dhaka

India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Rewa Ganguly Das said on Tuesday that the Indian constitution had given civil rights to the people, who were far ahead in their quest for the time when it was adopted.

Addressing a gathering of Indians working in Bangladesh on the occasion of Constitution Day, he said that Dr. Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution under the leadership of B.R. Ambedkar also prepared a roadmap to achieve the aspiration for social justice in India.

Constitution Day was celebrated at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday. Indian citizens and High Commission staff residing in Bangladesh participated in the event.

High Commissioner Rewa Ganguly Das read the Preamble to the Constitution to mark the occasion. Dr. A documentary ‘Mooknayak’ on the life and work of Ambedkar was also screened.

Constitution Day is the day when the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution in 1949.
