India’s energy demand to be doubled by 2030

India’s energy demand is expected to double by 2030, and to achieve India’s development ambitions, energy efficiency plays a pivotal role. To fulfill this commitment, AEEE is hosting its biennial conclave energize 2020: Energy Innovation for a sustainable economy at ‘The Park’ in Hyderabad starting today February 11 to February 13, 2020.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of A Conference Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy Energize 2020, Mr. Anil Kumar Jain, IAS, & Secretary Ministry of Coal, Government of India said that they will be exceeding in production compared to last year’s numbers. He said that there has been a set back because the largest mine in Asia got flooded.

He said that the Coal scenario is healthy in the country . Coal India production was minus 8 percent until October. In the last few months coal production has gone up and it is -3 percent but will be plus and healthy growth percentage-wise compared to last year.

Three-day conclave started with with the lighting of the lamp ceremony by Upendra Bhatt, Managing Director – cKinetics and Chairperson, Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy, Jarnail Singh, Deputy Director (India), MacArthur Foundation, Sanjay Bajpai, Head – Technology Missions Division (Energy, Water & all Other), Department of Science & Technology, and Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the presence of Dr. Satish Kumar, President & executive director AEEE.
