Internet services suspend in Guwahati and other parts of Assam

In a notification issued by the political (A) department of the Assam government, in response to the ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill in various parts of the state, all telecom operators have been directed to suspend internet services from 7 pm today, 11th December. The shutdown will be for 24 hours and will be lifted at 7 pm on 12 December.

Apart from Kamrup Metro, the other districts affected by this clampdown are Lakhimpur, Tensukia, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Charaidev, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat and Kamrup.

This step has been taken in the wake of the ongoing movement against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, as the administration believes that the intensity can only increase and become a serious law and order situation.
