Journalist Atrocity: 2000 journalists participate in a countrywide protest by NUJ(I)

The National Union of Journalists (India) protested across the country in newspapers and channels demanding layoffs, pay cuts, arrests in fake cases, harassment, framing of journalist protection laws and formation of media council.

NUJ National President Ras Bihari said that at the national convention, there was a demand from the central and state governments to provide economic package for the media world. The Central Government was demanded that the economic package for medium and small newspapers facing the economic crisis should be announced as quickly as possible. He said that economic crisis has arisen in front of journalists and employees, who were victims of retrenchment during the coronary period. Journalists working in districts and small towns are not getting any salary. In such a situation, the central and state governments should arrange to provide one-time financial assistance to journalists facing financial crisis. The convention passed the Journalism Security Act, the formation of a media commission and media council, harassment of journalists in the wake of the Corona epidemic, amendments to the NUJI constitution and many other important resolutions.
