On Friday, US Vice President Kamala Harris became the country’s first female president when President Joe Biden temporarily transferred power to her.
According to CNN, the power transfer occurred while Biden was under anaesthesia for a routine colonoscopy for one hour and 25 minutes.
Harris, the United States’ first female, first Black, and first South Asian vice president, broke yet another barrier by becoming the country’s first female president.
According to Psaki, Harris worked from her West Wing office while Biden was under anaesthesia.
On Friday morning, Biden spoke with Harris and the White House Chief of Staff.”POTUS was in good spirits and resumed his duties at that time.” Psaki tweeted, “He will remain at Walter Reed as he completes the remainder of his routine physical.”
According to CNN, Biden, who turns 79 on Saturday, arrived at Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday morning for his first routine annual physical since taking office.
When the president requires anaesthesia in the United States, it is customary for the vice president to assume presidential powers.
