In wake of the rising number of COVID-19 cases within the city, lockdown has been extended in Guwahati.
The lockdown extension order states that “this order shall remain effective with effect from 6 PM of July 12, 2020 and shall remain effective up till 7 PM of July 19.”
The Principal Secretary of Assam’s Health Department Samir Sinha during a NHM meeting held at GMCH said, “If the lockdown isn’t imposed, the gains made within the past fortnight will go waste.”
Guwahati has been under complete lockdown since Saints Peter and Paul for 2 weeks.

The total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Assam as on July 11 stands at 15,536 of which 9,848 persons are cured and 5,650 cases are currently active.
