The general meeting of the ‘Journalist Shelter Home’, a haven for journalists across the country, concluded on Monday afternoon. The meeting was held at the BMSF central office in Puranapaltan. Ahmed Abu Jafar, Central General Secretary of Bangladesh Mofsbol Journalists Forum (BMSF) presided over the function.
Convener of Shelter Home Mizanur Rashid Mizan, Member Secretary Nurul Islam Ujjwal, Member Shahen Shah Md. Samsuddin, Training Secretary Abul Hasan Belal and others addressed the meeting.
The meeting included two newcomers to the two posts. They are, Alam Palash, Chandpur representative of Prothom Alo and BMSF central vice-president Gazipur journalist Dr.
Initiatives were taken to officially launch the Journalist Shelter Home from next March. Soon a decision was taken to form a full committee.
It is to be mentioned that this is the first time in Dhaka that Bangladesh Mofsbol Journalists Forum has formed a journalist shelter thinking of Mofsbol journalists. Here, the journalists who are constantly attacked and sued will get medical and legal benefits. In addition, journalists who come to Dhaka for professional work will get internet facility including nominal accommodation.
