Amid the ongoing nationwide strike by doctors demanding stricter laws for the safety of health workers, the resident doctors of AIIMS and other Delhi-based hospitals have taken a new step in their protest.
They have announced to provide free OPD services in front of the Health Ministry on the road from August 19.
The Resident Doctors Association of AIIMS has stated that they will continue to provide these services until they are given adequate security in hospitals through a Central Protection Act.
The association has also urged the government to accept their plea for an urgent ordinance for the safety and security of healthcare workers and institutes.
Meanwhile, the nationwide strike continues in solidarity with the victim of the Kolkata rape and murder case. The CBI, which took over the case, conducted a psychology test on the accused and questioned a former principal of the hospital where the incident occurred.
The body of the trainee doctor was found on August 9, and an arrest has been made in connection with her rape and murder.
The resident doctors continue to demand justice and stricter laws to ensure their safety while carrying out their duties.
