Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari hospitalised in Karachi

Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has been admitted to a Karachi hospital, where his health is under monitoring and he is anticipated to be discharged soon. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached out to inquire about Zardari’s condition after media reports of his hospitalization surfaced.

Despite the attention, neither the presidential office nor the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has released an official statement about Zardari’s health. Sources indicated he was transferred from Nawabshah for tests. The Press Information Department later reported Prime Minister Sharif’s phone call, wishing for Zardari’s swift recovery.

Additionally, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori consulted Zardari’s doctor for updates. Earlier, Zardari, 69, had health challenges, including a leg fracture in October 2024, which required immediate treatment and a cast. He also underwent eye surgery in the UAE in March 2023 and was hospitalized for a chest infection in August 2022. Although testing positive for COVID-19 in July 2022, his symptoms remained mild, and he previously dealt with fatigue due to extensive travel.
