Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina warns that the government will not allow anyone to create anarchy in the country in the name of religion

In his speech on Tuesday, on the occasion of Bangladesh Victory Day, Prime Minister Hasina said that her government was determined to thwart the attempt to use religion as a political weapon to create social unrest.

Part of the forces that lost in 1971 reappeared in the country’s political landscape. Prime Minister Hasina said they were trying to mislead ordinary Muslims to create unrest and bring the country back to the situation it was 50 years ago.

She reminded that Bangladesh gained independence based on the blood of people of all religions and denominations including Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians. She said Bangladesh has a legacy of liberal spirituality and pluralism.

Calling Bangladesh the land of Lalon Shah, Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Jibonanda, she said the country belongs to all.

She called on the youth to uphold this spirit and not to forget the sacrifices of the ancestors.
