Second flood warning sign issued on Godavari barrage in Andhra Pradesh

A second warning signal has been issued at Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage in Doleswaram, Andhra Pradesh as the flood level in the Godavari river crossed the 1.3 million cusec mark on Sunday morning.

At 11 am, 13,43,836 cusecs drifted into the barrage and the same was landed in the delta canals and the sea.

As the floodwater grew, floods continued in many villages of East and West Godavari districts.

The famous Goshpada Kshatram was submerged on the banks of Godavari in Kovuru, after which the temples were closed.

The water level at the Polavaram dam construction site touched 29 meters, but all uses of the project are cut off.

For the fifth consecutive day, the island villages under Devipatnam mandal in East Godavari district remained in darkness as electricity supply was cut off.

Teams of NDRF and SDRF were carrying out rescue and relief operations as the district administration opened special camps to provide essential goods and food to the flood-affected villagers.
