According to sources, cinema theatres in Telangana will reopen soon with 100% occupancy after a two-month hiatus. The theatres were closed after a state-wide lockdown was declared on May 12.

According to unconfirmed sources, the theatres and multiplexes will shortly resume full operations. In this context, guidelines are anticipated to be announced soon.

This ruling is expected to take effect on July 8. The official confirmation is still pending.
According to entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai, the Andhra Pradesh government also permitted its theatres to reopen with a 50% seating capacity.

Moreover, on Saturday, the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce encouraged producers to hold off on theatrical releases till October and not to contemplate releasing their films on OTT platforms.

Due to the second wave of COVID-19, a number of Tollywood releases, including Love Story, Virata Parvam, Radhe Shyam, Tuck Jagadish, Acharya, Akhanda, and others, were pushed back into April and May. Gangubai Kathiawadi, Sooryavanshi, Atrangi Re, Liger, and KGF 2 were among the Hindi films set to be released.
