Thanjavur will host a four-day North-east cultural festival starting today



Thiruchirapalli: According to Gowri Marate, Deputy Director, South Cultural Centre in Thanjavur, over 600 artists from the northeastern parts of the country are expected to attend the festival.

Gowri Marate told reporters that the South Zone Cultural Centre in Thanjavur was hosting the Octave 2022, which would feature more than 600 artists, including 300 from North East states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Apart from that, a national folk and tribal festival will be held from March 16 to March 16, 2022, following the Octave event.

The artists would perform their indigenous art forms in the specially designed open air stage during the folk and tribal festival.


The event will be inaugurated by SS Palanimanickam, MP, on March 12. During the inaugural, she said, District Collector Dinesh Ponraj Oliver, Mayor Shan Ramanathan, and others would be present.
