The country’s first third gender news reader on Boishakhi TV
The keynote of Bangladesh’s independence was the liberation of the people of the country, building a society livable and non-discriminatory for all. Although there are many achievements to be proud of in the 50 years of independence, it has not been possible to ensure a non-discriminatory and safe life for all. The ‘third sex’ is one of the biggest neglected populations due to this failure. Everyone in our society knows them as traditionally hijras. This time the private Baishakhi television has taken an exceptional initiative with them.
According to the organizers, on the eve of the celebration of Women’s Day in March this year, the golden jubilee of independence, we have added two third gender women to our channel’s news and drama. This is the first time that people in the country will see a third gender woman reading the news in a professional news bulletin. Which has never happened before in the 50 years of independence. This woman’s name is Tasnuva Annan Shishir. Shishir will present her first news bulletin on Boishakhi Television on International Women’s Day on Monday, March 7-21.
Through this, he will be a companion of the historic initiative of Boishakhi Television to set an unprecedented example in the country. Similarly we have added another third gender woman to one of the main characters in our entertainment department regular drama. Whose name is Nusrat Mau. She will be seen on screen for the first time on International Women’s Day on the same day, in an episode of the serial ‘Chapabaj’. Which will be broadcast on March 8 at 9:20 pm.
