In a massive exercise across the country, another mock drill on the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine will be held in all states and union territories on Friday.
The Ministry of Health said the drive will ensure effective planning and management of vaccine distribution in every district in all states and UTs. Each district identifies three types of session sites: public health facility, private health facility and rural or urban re-touch sites, similar to the previous dry run.
The ministry said the central government was preparing to develop the Covid-19 vaccine nationwide. The Drugs Controller General of India recently authorized two COVID vaccines for emergency use.
To facilitate the entire vaccination process, the Ministry of Health has developed a software called Co-Win for real-time information of vaccine stocks, their storage temperature and the personalized tracking of beneficiaries for the COVID-19 vaccine. This software assists program administrators at all levels in managing vaccination sessions.
A dedicated 24×7 call center has also been set up for Co-Win customers’ technical queries. Adequate supply of cold chain infrastructure as well as syringes and other logistics has been confirmed to enable the Kovid-19 vaccine drive.
About 70 lakh vaccinators and three lakh vaccination team members have been trained on the procedure to be followed at the vaccination sites. This includes beneficiary certification, vaccination, cold chain and logistics management, biomedical waste management and reporting on Co-Win software.
