Nutrihub, ICAR-IIMR, celebrating the National Nutrition Month, ICAR- IIMR collaborate with Indian Dietetics Association and Nutrition Society of India nationally to meet objectives of Poshan MAAH to beat Malnutrition and Promote Aatma Nirbar Bharat on 28th September 2020.
Chief Guest Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, said it is important to promote millet cultivation to reduce water consumption for farming. He also mentioned that NITI Aayog is consistently working on enhancing millet consumptions with all the ministries, to include millets in Mid-Day meals and ICDS. He highlighted that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has initiated their plans to implement millet consummation in WCD (Women and Child Development). He also mentioned that NITI Aayog funded the pilot project on decentralized inclusion in three aspirational districts of Telangana.
“Millets Recipes Book” from ICAR-IIMR was released on this occasion.Dr Vilas A Tonapi had pointed that IIMR would continue to technically backstop this Millets movement forward with the direction of NITI Aayog. Dr. B. Dayakar Rao, CEO, Nutrihub informed Mr. Amitabh Kant that the white paper on the Millets through this multi stakeholder will be submitted to NITI Aayog for taking forward from this mega webinar.
C S Jadhav ,CEO Inner Being one of early start up in the Millet and Nutrition space highlighted that there is growing need of healthy products in the category of Ready to eat, Ready to cook and especially post covid there is paradigm shift towards Health and Hygiene and Millets are the best fit as they are not only nutritious like protein, high fiber etc and also build immunity which is a need of the day
The event started with the welcome note of Dr. B Dayakar Rao, CEO, Nutrihub, ICAR-IIMR.Dr. Vilas A Tonapi Director, ICAR-IIMR has co-chaired along with Dr. SK Malhotra, Agriculture Commissioner, GOI, DOAC&FW, for the first session in bringing the National and state polices and initiatives taken at various states of the India.
