Indian Healthcare League Launched: Doctors’ Sports Initiative to Boost Fitness, Cancer Awareness & Mental Well-being

New Delhi: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Whitecoat Sports has launched the Indian Healthcare League (IHL), an exclusive sporting platform for doctors aimed at promoting physical fitness, spreading cancer awareness, and encouraging open discussions on mental health.

The league was inaugurated in New Delhi with former Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara as the chief guest. Praising the initiative, Pujara said, “The Indian Healthcare League is a remarkable platform dedicated to those who dedicate their lives to keeping us healthy. Beyond fitness, it seeks to strengthen mental well-being among doctors and spread awareness on cancer. This league will inspire not only healthcare professionals but also society to adopt fitness, preventive healthcare, and sports as a way of life.”

“Doctor-First” Philosophy at the Core

Highlighting the vision behind the league, Dr. Rahul Mangal, Chairman and Managing Director of Whitecoat Sports, explained, “IHL is not just about fitness. It addresses two of the most urgent challenges of our time — cancer awareness and mental health. By encouraging doctors to participate in sports, we want to build healthier doctors and, in turn, healthier communities across India.”

The inaugural season will feature six regional franchises:

  • Delhi Avatars

  • Gujarat Lionhearts

  • Rajasthan Lake-City Warriors

  • Maharashtra Med Titans

  • Haryana Juggernauts

  • Uttar Pradesh Super Kings

A Movement Beyond Sports

The launch event saw enthusiastic participation from doctors across specializations, along with the support of sports personalities like Pujara. The league has been positioned as more than just a tournament — it is a movement for preventive healthcare, encouraging medical professionals to lead by example while driving conversations on mental health and cancer prevention.
