‘Swayam’ finalises as brand name for DWCRA products

Hyderabad: In a move aimed at strengthening the market identity of products made by women self-help groups, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved the brand name ‘Swayam’ for goods manufactured by DWCRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) groups in the state.

During a review meeting, the Chief Minister examined several proposed names and logo designs prepared by officials for branding and marketing products made by Self-Help Groups (SHGs). After evaluating the options, he finalised the name Swayam, emphasising the importance of creating a distinct identity for products manufactured by women entrepreneurs.

He also reviewed two proposed logo designs and instructed officials to seek feedback from DWCRA group members before taking a final decision on the logo. He said the participation of SHG members in the decision-making process would ensure better acceptance of the brand at the grassroots level.

Naidu stressed that proper branding and professional marketing strategies are essential to expand the reach of SHG products and make them more competitive in the market. He noted that a strong brand identity would help improve recognition, create consumer trust and open up better sales opportunities.

The Chief Minister further observed that strengthening women-led enterprises would contribute to economic empowerment and help increase income levels of SHG members. He also called for efforts to improve packaging, quality standards and digital marketing support to help the products reach wider markets.

Officials said the initiative is expected to provide a unified platform for marketing SHG products and improve their commercial viability. The government is also planning measures to support training, branding and market linkages for women entrepreneurs to ensure sustainable growth of self-help group enterprises.
