5 Kashmir Journalists Resign Following Terrorist Threat

SRINAGAR: Five journalists for a Srinagar-based English newspaper resigned on Tuesday after the Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba and its affiliate The Resistance Front (TRF) threatened to go after a dozen names in the local media, branding them “military agents and security forces informers.”

According to police, a FIR was filed against Lashkar and TRF at the Shergari police station in Srinagar under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for “online publication and dissemination of a direct threat to journalists based in Kashmir.””We want to be clear that anyone associated with occupier Indian-sponsored media outlets in the Valley will not be spared…

Journalists who work for these traitorous media outlets and spread false narratives will be targeted “states a threat attributed to TRF and published on the blacklisted blog kashmirfight.com. Terrorists have previously intimidated or threatened journalists in the Valley with dire consequences. Terrorists shot and killed Shujat Bukhari, former editor of the newspaper Rising Kashmir, in June 2018. Several other Kashmiri journalists have been killed by terrorist bullets.

According to sources, the five employees who resigned following the latest threat were all employed by Rising Kashmir. They announced their resignation on social media.
