Asaduddin Owaisi lodges police complaint against Assam CM

Hyderabad: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday lodged a complaint with Hyderabad Police against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over an allegedly objectionable video, seeking legal action in the matter.

Owaisi submitted his complaint to Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar, alleging that the video in question contained violent content and promoted hatred against the Muslim community.

In his representation, the AIMIM leader alleged that Sarma had, over the past few years, made several remarks targeting the Muslim community through various platforms including social media, public speeches and media interactions. He claimed that such statements could potentially disturb communal harmony.

Owaisi urged the police to examine the content of the video and take appropriate legal action if any violations of law were found. He also requested authorities to ensure that such content does not lead to tension or unrest.

Police officials confirmed receipt of the complaint and said the matter would be examined in accordance with legal procedure. Sources indicated that officials may review the material referred to in the complaint before deciding on further course of action.

The development comes amid heightened political exchanges between leaders of different states over various national issues. Officials said any action in the case would be taken based on findings after preliminary examination of the complaint and relevant legal provisions.
