Family Feud Rocks BRS: Kavitha Points Finger at Harish Rao Over Kaleshwaram

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) is facing its most turbulent moment yet — not because of the government, but because of a bitter feud within its own family.

On Monday, party MLC and Telangana Jagruti president K Kavitha shocked political circles by accusing her cousin and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao of masterminding a conspiracy to “frame” her father, former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project case.

In a fiery press meet, Kavitha didn’t stop at Harish Rao. She named J Santosh Kumar, former Rajya Sabha MP, and Krishna Reddy, MD of Megha Engineering and Infrastructure, as key players who, she alleged, “amassed assets while blinding KCR.” Her charge was blunt: “KCR is being scapegoated, and those who ran the project are now hand in glove with CM Revanth Reddy.”

The timing was explosive. Just hours earlier, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had announced a CBI probe into Kaleshwaram, after the PC Ghose Commission report flagged irregularities. Calling it a matter that involved multiple states and central agencies, Revanth said only the CBI could investigate fairly.

But Kavitha painted her father as a victim of betrayal rather than corruption. “He spent months researching irrigation solutions for Telangana. He never worked for money,” she declared, vowing that KCR would walk free.

Harish Rao, however, hit back, dismissing the Ghose report as a “political drama scripted before local body polls.” He claimed the inquiry was riddled with procedural lapses and amounted to vendetta politics.

The BRS staged a dramatic protest soon after — MLAs walked out of the Assembly and dumped copies of the Ghose report into trash bins at Gun Park, a symbolic act that captured the growing tension.

What was once seen as a political attack from outside has now turned into an open family war inside the BRS. With accusations flying between blood relatives, Telangana’s political stage has turned into a battleground where loyalty, power, and survival are all at stake.
