Glen Phillips returns home following groin injury

A significant setback has impacted the Gujarat Titans team as Kiwi all-rounder Glen Phillips has been ruled out of the IPL 2025 season due to a groin injury. The franchise announced this on Saturday, revealing that Phillips injured himself during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6. He has since returned to New Zealand and will not play this season.

Although Phillips had not yet played in the starting eleven, he participated as a substitute fielder. The injury occurred in the last over of the powerplay when he overextended while attempting a throw after chasing a shot from Ishan Kishan.

Phillips was promptly assisted off the field. This follows the earlier departure of South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for personal reasons, leaving the team’s depth in question.
