Himachal’s 1.91 lakh voters will cast their vote in the assembly elections for the first time

Shimla : 1.91 lakh youths will play an important role in writing the fate of the new government by voting for the first time in the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections to be held on November 12. These voters are going to play a crucial role for political parties and they will be watched by all political parties including BJP, Congress.

In fact, a large number of new voters have been added during the continuous updation period till the last date of filing nominations in the state. Of these, the number of young voters in the age group of 18 to 19 years is 1.91 lakh.

State Chief Electoral Officer Manish Garg said that according to the census till October 25, 2022 for the assembly elections in the state, now a total of 5592828 voters will exercise their franchise in the state. These include 67559 service voters, 22 overseas Indian voters, 5525247 general voters and 38 third gender voters. He said there are 1.93 lakh voters between 18-19 years.

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that the number of male voters is more than female voters in these elections in which the number of male voters is 2854945 and the number of female voters is 2737845. Out of total 5592828 voters, 2737845 are females, 2854945 are males and 38 are third gender.

He said that during the continuous updation period till the last date of filing of nominations, 23034 voters were added and 4157 voters were updated in e-roll through Form-8. The average voter turnout per polling station in the state is 701.

Manish Garg said that due to the continuous efforts of the Election Commission of India, 500 new Divyangjan voters have been added after the final publication of the photo voter list to make the electoral process more accessible and inclusive. Now their number in the state has gone up to 56501. Apart from this, 1.93 lakh voters have been added between 18-19 years.

Let us inform that voting will be held for 68 assembly seats in the state on November 12, while the election results will be declared on December 8. The nomination papers of the candidates filed for the assembly elections will be scrutinized today (Thursday) and the nominations can be withdrawn till October 29.
