Varanasi, 03 December (HS): Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has reached Varanasi to attend ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’. On Saturday, the Union Minister offered prayers at Kedar Ghat, Hanuman Ghat and went boating in the river Ganges. After this, visited Sri Vishalakshi Temple, Sri Kumaraswamy Mutt, Kasi Nattukottai Nagarathar Sathiram, Sri Chakralingeswara Mutt along with excursion to Tamil dominated places of the city.
Union Minister Sitharaman also reached the residence of Tamil Mahakavi Bharatiyar (Subrahmanya Bharathi) located at Hanuman Ghat. After visiting the residence here, he met his elderly nephew and family members.
The Union minister will pay obeisance at Srikashi Vishwanath temple in the evening. The Union minister will attend a seminar on ‘Architecture and other heritage forms in IKS’ (Indian Knowledge System) at Banaras Hindu University on Sunday. After this, she will interact with the students in another program in the university.
The Finance Minister will also attend a cultural program under ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ at BHU. Four people from Tamil Nadu who served the Kasi Vishwanathar Temple in Tenkasi ‘district’ for more than 30 years will also join the Finance Minister at the ‘Kashi-Tamil Sangamam’ in Varanasi on Saturday and Sunday. Before this, Sitharaman reached Bareka Guest House late on Friday evening. Here Bareka General Manager Anjali Goyal warmly welcomed her by giving her a bouquet of flowers. After resting the night at Bareka, the Union Minister left for the city on Saturday morning for darshan and worship.
