Russia is ready to negotiate peace in Ukraine following Trump’s frustrations over recent casualties

The US has issued a strong warning to Russia regarding its recent attacks on Ukraine, with President Donald Trump adopting a firm position. He indicated that Russia could face sanctions if no peace agreement is reached but expressed optimism that Russia would heed his appeal to halt its aggression. Trump underscored America’s ongoing pressure on Russia to cease its attacks, although he did not clarify any concessions from Russia towards peace with Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed Russia’s willingness to negotiate a peace deal, acknowledging some details still need clarification. The recent Russian strikes on Kyiv resulted in significant casualties, which Lavrov asserted were aimed at military targets.

“We continue our contacts with the American side on the situation in Ukraine, there are several signs that we are moving in the right direction,” Lavrov said.

Additionally, Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, is set to visit Moscow today on friday for further discussions.
