Nirmal (Telangana): In a heartwarming display of communal harmony, a burqa-clad woman, Amreen, won the Ganesh laddu auction at a pandal in Nirmal district by bidding ₹1,88,888. The festive moment drew wide attention, highlighting the spirit of inclusivity during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
This is not the first time that members of the Muslim community have actively participated in Ganesh laddu auctions. Last year, Afzal and his wife Muskaan from Komaram Bheem Asifabad district successfully bid for a laddu at ₹13,126, further strengthening the tradition of shared celebration.
Record-Breaking Laddus Across Telangana
While Amreen’s win made headlines for its symbolic value, the highest bid of this year came from Keerthi Richmond Villas in Bandlaguda, where a 10-kg laddu fetched an astonishing ₹2.32 crore after nearly 500 bids over 2.5 hours by more than 80 villa owners.
Meanwhile, the iconic Balapur Ganesh laddu in Hyderabad was auctioned for ₹35 lakh, with Lingala Dashrat Goud from Karmanghat walking away as the winner after outbidding four others.
Ganesh Immersion Continues in Hyderabad
Even as the laddus found their new homes, Hyderabad’s roads remained vibrant with Ganesh idol immersion processions. Although Saturday was marked as the official final day, several processions spilled into Sunday morning due to late-night rituals. Authorities expect the immersion process to conclude completely by Sunday evening.
Ganesh laddu auctions, deeply rooted in Telangana’s festive traditions, are not just about the sweet itself but symbolize prosperity, devotion, and the spirit of togetherness cutting across communities.
