Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the house of former Principal Sandeep Ghosh in Beliaghata, Kolkata on Friday morning in connection with financial irregularities in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. After this, the ED raided a house near Merimath in Chandannagar in Hooghly district. Local people told that Sandeep Ghosh’s in-laws live in this house.
Sources said that not only Kolkata, Howrah or South 24 Parganas but ED also conducted search operations in many areas of Hooghly on Friday. Around 07 am, the ED team first reached this house located in Padripara in Chandannagar. Sandeep Ghosh’s in-laws live in this house. However, the main door of the house was closed and the ED knocked on the door for a long time but no one came to open the door. After this, ED moved from Chandannagar to Baidyabati. There, ED team also reached the house of a person named Kunal Rai and conducted a search operation there.
According to sources, Sandeep Ghosh’s father-in-law’s name is Ramakrishna Das, but he and his family members rarely come to this house in Chandannagar. The door of the house was rusted and moss was accumulated in the inner courtyard. Ramakrishna’s family currently lives in Kolkata and they come to this house only during Jagaddhatri Puja. After waiting for some time outside Sandeep’s in-laws’ house, the ED team reached Baidyabati. At 09 am, ED officials reached Kunal Rai’s house in Nursery Road area of Baidyabati. After knocking on the door for a long time, Kunal himself opened the door. After this, the ED team kept searching his house for more than two hours. Kunal works in a private company. Local people were also surprised by the arrival of ED team at his house. Kunal’s relative Subir Das said that he used to work in the medical line, he does not know anything more than this.”
The ED team first reached Sandeep Ghosh’s house in Beliaghata at 6:30 am. However, the door of the house was closed there too, after which the officials had to return to the CGO Complex. Later, Sandeep’s house was raided again. The search is still going on at his house. Central force personnel have been deployed outside the house. Searches are also going on at the houses of Biplab Singh and Kaushik Kol in Howrah. ED raids are also going on at Prasun Chatterjee’s house in Subhashgram of South 24 Parganas. Central force personnel are also present along with ED officials.
Along with Sandeep, on Monday, the CBI also arrested Biplab, who is associated with the supply of medical equipment. According to initial information, Kaushik is close to Biplab and used to work as an accountant in his company. At the same time, Prasoon worked as a data entry operator in the National Medical College and he was not aware of Sandeep’s arrest. He is considered close to Dr. Sandeep. After the RG Kar Hospital scam, Sandeep was removed from the post of principal and transferred to National Medical College, but due to opposition from doctors, he could not join there.
