Pramod Sawant, who was declared the new Chief Minister of Goa following the demise of Manohar Parikar, suffering from cancer, will be on Wednesday for the floor test in the Assembly. On Monday night, after the dramatic developments, Sawant took oath at about 1.50 pm. A few hours later, on Tuesday morning, he wrote a letter to Governor Mridula Sinha claiming to prove the majority in the assembly on Wednesday. Today, Priyanka Gandhi will also campaign for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency. Apart from this, he will also perform Poojan-Archana in Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
The Governor accepted the demand of Sawant on Tuesday evening. An official of the Governor’s Office said, the governor called a special session of the Assembly on Wednesday at 11.30 in the morning to give the new Chief Minister an opportunity to prove his majority.
Earlier, after sitting for the first time in the office on Tuesday, Sawant said, “Our priority will be to complete all the projects initiated by Parikar.” The newly-appointed Chief Minister also announced a memorandum on behalf of the state government on the Miramar Beach in Panaji, in the name of Parikar. Let the last Chief Minister Manohar Parikar, who breathed last Sunday, was cremated with a state honor on Miramar Beach on Monday.

After taking the charge in the office on Tuesday, Sawant appealed to not give bouquet or congratulations to all of them to become the new Chief Minister. He said, I have assumed office of utmost humility and gratitude towards my mentor and the ideal manohar brother (parikar). There is still the atmosphere of mourning in the state, so for now I would not be greeted by giving bouquet or greetings. I want all of you to cooperate and wish to pursue a great heritage committed to good governance.

Newly appointed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant took charge of the state secretariat located in East-East on Tuesday.
