Mumbai: The Mukesh Ambani family, the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), has become the largest business family in India, with a total wealth of Rs 25.75 lakh crore, equivalent to 10% of the country’s GDP. Barclays-Hurun India reported that the Ambani family’s wealth is estimated at Rs 25,75,100 crore, equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP.
The Ambani family primarily operates in the energy, retail, and telecom sectors, led by RIL. The second highest-ranked business family is Bajaj, with a total wealth of Rs 7.13 lakh crore, led by Neeraj Bajaj of the third generation of the Bajaj family. The third highest-ranked business family is the Birla family, led by Kumar Mangalam Birla of the fourth generation.
The total wealth of these three major families is 460 billion US dollars, equivalent to Singapore’s GDP. Sajjan Jindal ranks fourth with a wealth of Rs 4.71 lakh crore, and the Nadar family ranks fifth with a wealth of Rs 4.30 lakh crore.
