Prez Murmu pays tribute to Pope Francis today at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City

President Droupadi Murmu paid tribute to Pope Francis on Friday at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, accompanied by Minister Kiren Rijiju and Minister of State George Kurian. Arriving in Rome for Pope Francis’s funeral, she expressed condolences on behalf of the Government of India.

The Ministry of External Affairs shared images of her tribute. Murmu is on a two-day visit to attend the funeral ceremony on Saturday at St. Peter’s Square, which will see attendance from global leaders. In memory of Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21, India declared a three-day national mourning, including April 26.
