Ramzan Shopping Rush Begins in Hyderabad, Markets Across Telangana See Rising Footfall

Hyderabad: With the holy month of Ramzan approaching, festive shopping has begun gaining momentum across Hyderabad and several nearby cities, with markets witnessing increasing crowds during the evenings.

Traditional shopping areas in the old city of Hyderabad such as Charminar, Laad Bazaar, Pathergatti and Madina are seeing steady footfall as families start preparing for the upcoming month of fasting and celebrations. Traders say shoppers are arriving not only from different parts of the city but also from neighbouring districts and cities in Telangana and adjoining states.

Markets are displaying fresh collections of festive clothing, footwear and accessories. Traditional attire including embroidered sarees, salwar suits, kurtas and children’s wear are among the popular purchases. Footwear such as Kolhapuri chappals, Peshawari sandals and jootis are also drawing interest from shoppers.

Traders say new stocks have been sourced from major textile and trading hubs including Surat, Delhi, Mumbai, Kanpur and Jaipur to meet the seasonal demand.

Apart from Hyderabad, shopping activity has also increased in other cities such as Secunderabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Warangal, where local markets are seeing more visitors in the run-up to Ramzan.

Seasonal exhibitions and temporary shopping stalls are also being organised at several function halls and commercial areas in parts of the city including Attapur, Gudimalkapur and Tolichowki, attracting shoppers looking for festive garments, jewellery and home décor items.

Market associations expect the rush to increase further in the coming days as Ramzan draws closer and families continue preparations for the holy month.
