The Rajasthan Royals have suffered a major setback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Team captain Sanju Samson will not participate in the crucial match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) due to injury. The Rajasthan franchise officially confirmed this on Monday.
Rajasthan Royals issued a statement saying, “Sanju Samson is currently undergoing a recovery process and will remain at the home base with the team’s medical staff. He will not travel to Bangalore.”
It is noted that during the match against Delhi Capitals, Sanju felt mild pain in his abdominal area, after which he underwent a scan. As a result, he was also unable to play in the previous match against Lucknow Super Giants.
In Sanju Samson’s absence, Riyan Parag will once again take over the captaincy. In the first three matches of the season, when Sanju could not keep wicket (due to a fracture and surgery on his right index finger), Riyan had taken on the captaincy responsibilities.
In IPL 2025, Sanju Samson has scored 224 runs in 7 matches so far, with an average of 37.33 and a strike rate of over 140. During this period, he has also scored one half-century. His form has been crucial for the team, but his absence due to injury could pose a significant loss for the team.
