Telangana Govt expands GHMC by merging 27 ULBs

Hyderabad: State government expanded Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC )by merging 27 Urban Local Bodies ULBs.

The newly merged ULBs include Pedda Amberpet, Jalpally, Shamshabad, Turkayamjal, Manikonda, Narsingi, Adibatla, Thukuguda, Medchal, Dammaiguda, Nagaram, Pocharam, Ghatkesar, Gundlapochampally, Thumkunta, Kompally, Dundigal, Bollaram, Tellapur, Ammenpur, Badangpet, Bandlaguda Jagir, Meerpet, Boduppal, Peerzadiguda, Jawaharnagar, and Nizampet.

The merger of these 27 ULBs came to light in the general body meeting held on Tuesday. Hyderabad Mayor, G Vijayalakshmi read out an official communication issued by the Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) and circulated it to all 150 GHMC Divisions corporators, seeking their support.

The decision behind the proposal of merging these 27 ULBs is to maintain uniform development on par with the Hyderabad core city.
