Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a social media campaign on Monday, calling on people to support them in saving the constitution and democracy in the country. At a press conference, Delhi minister and senior AAP leader Atishi announced the launch of the “DP (display picture) campaign” and urged people to join in. She stated that all AAP leaders and volunteers would change their profile pictures on various social media platforms to one showing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal behind bars with the caption “Modi Ka Sabse Bada Dar Kejriwal”.
Atishi claimed that Kejriwal was the only leader who could challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is why he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate without any evidence just before the Lok Sabha polls. She also stated that despite a two-year-long probe into an alleged excise scam, the ED could not produce any evidence against Kejriwal. Atishi accused the BJP and Modi of wanting to crush Kejriwal and added that the AAP was fighting against “dictatorship” in the country. She urged people to support their cause by changing their profile pictures and stated that this fight was not just Kejriwal’s alone. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED last week in connection with a money laundering case related to his government’s now scrapped excise policy and is currently in custody until March 28th.
This social media campaign by the AAP aims to garner support and raise awareness about what they believe to be an attack on democracy and the constitution by the ruling party.
