Aerobatic pilot Rob Holland killed in plane crash in Virginia

Aerobatic pilot Rob Holland tragically died in a plane crash at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia on Thursday, where he was slated to perform in an upcoming airshow. His death was confirmed on his Instagram account, which highlighted his status as one of the most honored aerobatic pilots and his humble pursuit of self-improvement.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported that the accident occurred just before Thursday afternoon when Holland’s single-seat experimental MX aircraft, the MXS, crashed during a landing attempt. An investigation is ongoing.

Holland, a 13-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion, was due to showcase his skills at the Air Power Over Hampton Roads event this weekend. The show’s organizer, Jim Bourke, expressed deep sorrow, stating that Holland will be remembered as a friend and innovator. Langley Air Force Base is also known for its F-22 Raptor squadron.
