Assam Martyr’s Day: CM pays tribute to martyrs

Guwahati : Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a message released on social media on Saturday that along with Khargeshwar Talukdar, who was martyred on this day in the great struggle for the survival of the caste, the sacrifices of every martyr of the six-year long Assam movement Will inspire us to be accountable to our mothers through the ages.

The Chief Minister said, I pay my heartfelt tributes to the immortal martyrs of the Assam movement who fearlessly laid down their lives to protect the Assamese identity.

Martyr’s Day is being organized centrally by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today at the Belshar High School sports ground in Nalbari district. Chief Minister Dr. Sarma, BJP State President Bhavesh Kalita and other senior leaders will participate in the programme.

The Assam Gana Parishad (AGP), which was born from the womb of the Assam movement, is celebrating the state-wide Martyrs’ Day today.
