Delhi HC denies Pakistani woman’s long-term visa plea

The Delhi High Court has declined to hear a petition from an Indian citizen seeking a long-term visa for his Pakistani wife, Sheena Naz. Justice Sachin Dutta’s bench emphasized that matters pertaining to national security are not subject to judicial intervention.

Sheena Naz sought to maintain her residence permit, which was valid from March 26 to May 9, and expedite her visa application after the government’s decision to suspend visa services for Pakistani nationals following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam. This suspension required Pakistani nationals to leave India by April 27.

The court reinforced that the central government’s actions were driven by national security concerns and noted that there is no basis for judicial review regarding the order under Section 3(1) of the Foreign Act, which lacks exceptions within the court’s jurisdiction.
