Jamdani fair attracts saree lovers in Delhi

In a day-long fair of jamdani, muslin and other handloom sarees, the pride of Bangladesh has created a wave of excitement and a reason for shopping among enthusiasts.

The masterpiece, the masterpieces of two popular fashion houses in Dhaka, Mantasha Ahmed and Nasreen Jahan, was organized in New Delhi by the Association of Fashion Designers of Bangladesh (ATDB) and Bangladesh High Commission (BDHC) Spokes Club.

It was opened by the High Commissioner of Bangladesh, India, Syed Muazzim Ali in the Mission’s Friendship Hall.

For Delhi lovers of Bangladeshi Jamdani, colorful, full of motifs – the exhibitions featured some weavers’ masterpieces in their performances. In 2013, UNESCO declared the traditional art of Jamdani weaving as the intangible cultural heritage of humanity and in 2016 Bangladesh received the GI status of Jamdani Saree.

Today’s fair was the second such initiative by the same organizers in two years.
