Fighting for Press Freedom: NUJI, DJA Condemn Assault on Times Now Journalist

Delhi: The National Union of Journalists (India) and Delhi Journalists Association have strongly condemned the misbehavior and physical assault of Times Now video journalist Akanksha Khajuria by Aam Aadmi Party workers.

NUJI National President Ras Bihari stated that the journalist was simply doing her job by asking questions about the corruption and scams of the AAP party, and it is possible that the party’s displeasure led to their aggression towards her. He emphasized that in a democracy, the media has the right to expose corruption and hold leaders accountable. He also expressed concern over the repeated attacks on media by AAP leaders, which he believes is a reflection of their declining support base.

DJA President Rakesh Thapliyal announced that they will be submitting a memorandum to the Union Home Minister, highlighting the increasing attacks on journalists and demanding strict action against the culprits. Such incidents only serve to undermine the freedom of press and must be addressed with urgency.
