On Tuesday in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, tourists fled from gunfire during a terrorist attack while Syed Adil Hussain Shah, a pony ride operator, heroically tried to disarm one of the attackers.
Tragically, he was shot dead while attempting to protect the tourists he had escorted. The terrorists killed 26 people after verifying their religion and demanding they recite ‘Kalma’, with Shah being the only local casualty.
As the family’s sole breadwinner, his death left his elderly parents, wife, and children in despair, particularly his heartbroken mother who feared for their future.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah attended the funeral prayers of Syed Adil Hussain Shah, a pony ride operator who died in a terror attack in Pahalgam. Abdullah met with the family in Hapatnar, Anantnag district, offering support and stating that Adil may have attempted to disarm a terrorist, leading to his targeting. He emphasized the government’s commitment to assist the family during this difficult time, assuring them of all possible help.
Adil was the only local casualty in the attack that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, in Baisaran meadows.
