Hyderabad: Police busted an illegal online betting racket and arrested eight members of a gang involved in operating the banned Khelo Games betting apps.
The arrested persons are G Vinay Kumar, N Sai Vardhan Goud, D Rahul, D Jeshwanth Teja, Venu Gopal, K Ram, Velpula Akash and D Pranay. Two key suspects, Rajesh and Aslam of Karimnagar, are absconding.
According to the police, the gang was using various popular mobile applications to run online betting. They created multiple user IDs and bank accounts in the names of unsuspecting persons to channel winnings. The gang had generated 235 user IDs to run the betting racket and were luring punters on a commission basis. Further investigation is going on.
