Hyderabad, 15 February: With the holy month of Ramzan approaching, markets across the Old City and surrounding commercial areas in Hyderabad have begun witnessing increased activity as residents start early shopping for essentials, clothing and traditional food items.
Vendors in popular shopping stretches said footfall has gradually risen during evening hours, especially in areas known for garments, dry fruits and prayer items. Traders expect a steady increase in visitors over the coming weeks.
Shopkeepers stated that customers are mainly enquiring about dates, dry fruits and festive wear as families prepare in advance to avoid last-minute rush.
“People have started coming early this year. Many families want to complete purchases before peak crowd days,” a trader in the market area told Riaan.tv.
Residents visiting the market said they prefer early shopping to manage prices and availability.
“We usually wait until Ramzan begins, but now we came early to avoid heavy crowds and traffic,” a local resident told Riaan.tv.
Food vendors are also preparing for seasonal demand, particularly for items commonly consumed during iftar. Temporary stalls are expected to increase closer to the start of the fasting month.
Police and civic officials are expected to implement traffic regulation and sanitation arrangements as crowd levels rise in traditional market zones.
Business owners said the festival period is an important time for small traders and provides seasonal income opportunities for many families dependent on retail activity.
